Simon James Photography

With over three decades of experience as a professional Melbourne photographer, Simon James has built a career that extends far beyond taking beautiful photographs. His work has taken him across Melbourne and around the world, capturing people, businesses and meaningful moments with technical skill, creative instinct and genuine care.

At the heart of Simon’s photography is connection. He has an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen, understood and completely at ease, often bringing out something they may not have recognised in themselves. He takes the time to listen, understand the story in front of him and notice the small, unguarded moments that reveal something real.

Simon knows the most powerful photographs cannot be forced. They emerge when people feel comfortable enough to be themselves. Whether photographing an individual, a family, a milestone or a brand, he creates a relaxed, collaborative experience that allows genuine personality to come through. The result is photography that is not only beautiful, but honest, expressive and full of life.

A perfectionist in the best possible sense, Simon’s care continues long after the camera is put away. From the first conversation through to editing, printing and final delivery, he remains personally invested in every detail. It is this depth of connection and commitment to exceptional work that sets him apart as a deeply trusted Melbourne photographer.
